I had decided to go to the funeral of Tom's grandfather. Before, I found it impossible if old people have gone to every other funeral in the village. Now I know that they have known many of the dead really wanted to say goodbye and a matter of the inevitable end came ever closer. Or they stood near one of the members and thus showed their sympathy. The funeral
found 15 clock instead of the Ohlsdorf cemetery. Jasmin and I had taken half the day off and wanted to go together to the funeral. I stood in the hallway before the large mirror. I had put on a black dress and black pumps to do so. had died up to the time when my grandpa almost ten years ago, I had very often worn black. But my whole family was dressed almost entirely dark, I had the feeling of being squeezed out of this color. I could not breathe when I had to wrap up in the mourning. I banished almost all black and gray clothes in the farthest corner of my cabinet. The new blouse that I had worn to the funeral for the first time, I never wore again. It took a long time before I return as a fashionable black felt. A strange taste, however, was stayed.

I stood against two at Jasmine at the door. We had enough time. The cemetery was very large and we have never been there. We did not want to be late because we lost our way and had not found in time. Jasmin also wore a black dress. She was very good. At the waist was a narrow velvet ribbon that was tied at the back, cut a few small black flowers were sewn on. If the occasion was not so sad, I would have envied this great dress.
We took the car to the cemetery, we looked for a parking lot and began the search. It was not just a cemetery but a huge park - a beautiful Park, the sun was shining from a deep blue sky, the green lights of the trees, and bees buzzing from flower to flower. I was struck by a rare calm. The hustle and bustle of everyday life faded. I almost forgot the reason for my visit to this oasis. If there is such a thing existed, then here was the perfect place to bed for a loved one to rest.
After fifteen minutes we had found the chapel where the funeral was to take place. It had already gathered a small bunch of black people before. As far as I could, Tom was not there, I went out that his family had not yet arrived. Jasmin and I asked ourselves a bit away from the mourners. I wish it would already be over. We hardly spoke to each other and greeted other mourners arriving with a small nod.
from short, three are in considerable number of young and old people had gathered at the cemetery. All Tom's grandfather had known in any way, had worked with him, laughed celebrated, common hobbies were pursued. They knew each other from childhood, or a club or a national stand close to one or the other way. Suddenly silence fell
about the group. Tom and his family had arrived. He based his grandmother, who, trying to maintain composure walked next to her grandson on the chapel by her husband on his final journey to prove. I could hardly imagine how difficult this course might be for them. For many decades they had spent together, laughed and cried together. Now, this trip was over and it had no alternative but to leave as alone and to move on. Her arm was eingehänkelt with Tom, the love and strength-giving held her hand. On his face was reflected deep sadness, but his eyes betrayed that he was worried - about his grandmother and his mother, who had lost her beloved father. When Tom saw us, a very slight smile crossed his face. He probably had not expected that someone would come from the agency. We could not really help him, but we wanted him Show that we thought of him at this difficult time.
It formed a transition between the mourners, so the family could go to the door of the chapel where the priest was waiting for them. Left and right side of the aisle nodded to acquaintances and friends of the family and murmured softly condolences. Arriving at this pastor gave only his grandma's hands, then the rest of the family and led them into the interior of the chapel, where the closed coffin was laid out. A sob penetrated to the outside of the summer day. No one said another word. A short time later the door opened and the mourners followed the family to the chapel. We are featured in the last row, because no seats were free. It had come so many people that had some standing in the doorway and outside the chapel. Here and there the people murmured to each other, from, and one heard a slight sniffle. I let my eyes wander over the heads of those present, until I could make out very front right in front of the coffin Tom us his family. Only now I noticed that Bee was not there. I scanned the crowd, her red hair could not see anywhere else. How could that be? I looked at Jasmine.
"Say," I whispered, "you know where is Bee?"
"Is not she here for?" Jasmine whispered back, looking now looking at the crowd.
"I can see it either. That's strange. "We looked at us confused. But before we could make further thought, made a soft music and the pastor walked to his podium.
"Dear Mrs. Bergmann struggled, relatives, mourners struggled. We have gathered today to bid farewell to Paul Herrmann Bergmann. "The priest had a deep, pleasant voice. There was something soothing, beyond all sorrow. He was believed that he had seen and experienced much suffering and the comfort he tried to donate, was honest. He reported on the eventful life of Tom's grandfather, his time in the war, as the family was back together in early years a child died - Tom's uncle - and how it was for his family to the rock in the surf until he reached the end of his journey and then returned to the Lord. The speech was very sensitive. But even me, connecting with Paul Bergmann nothing other than friendship with his grandson, was in tears. I sympathized with the family that had to suffer this pain.
The mourners stood up and said a final prayer. Again sounded soft music. Four pallbearers approached the coffin, wreaths and candles, and conferred aside and lifted the coffin. Slowly, she left the chapel, followed by the family of the deceased, friends and acquaintances. We walked slowly through the summer brilliant park to grave. There, the priest once taught a few words to the mourners. Then the coffin was lowered into the earth. Tom's grandmother sobbed aloud. He supported and helped her to take a bunch of roses on the coffin and took her in his arms. He said goodbye with a white rose. Tears ran down his face. Tom led his grandmother to a point slightly to the side of the grave, where a chair was ready for them. Tom's mother also for this last goodbye was hard. By and by all those present adopted the grave and the family expressed their condolences. Also, Jasmine and I had a small rose on the coffin fall and then went briefly to the family of a miner. Tom's grandmother hardly noticed that her his hand. She seemed quite lost in their grief. I embraced Tom briefly. It needed no words. What should you say? Then Jasmine and I made our way home. We strolled through the park, not much talking, minding my own business.
"What do you think when we go somewhere in a cafe and a little bit to enjoy the sun? I'm so cold now. "Jasmine looked at me quizzically.
"Good idea."
We presented to it from my car in the street and went into a little cafe nearby. We were lucky and landed a table in the sun, from which was just a couple in love stood up. We were both glad that we only a short time the mourners were and could again light to flow into our souls.

Mastermate Snow Tires

The weekend I spent in holiday mood. On the day the sun was shining from a blue sky and drenched us. The nights were mild, so I long with a glass of wine on the balcony and sat then slept with the window wide open. I enjoyed the lazy days and repressed all thoughts of the agency successful. It could go on forever so on. But the best time had come to an end. And so I ripped the alarm clock Monday morning far too early in my dreams. I stayed in bed for a while, looked out the window into the bright blue sky, listened to the neighbors as they closed the doors and made their way to work.
I were just stayed in bed, wrapped in my world with holiday-scented summer thoughts.

The first day back in the office was most peculiar. On the one hand it was very good to see everyone and immerse themselves in the usual activity, on the other hand, was the trip away from everyday life far too short. I tried to keep my relaxation and my colleagues not to bother with a bad temper. They could not help it, that had turned the wheel while I was away as normal and I was not ready to jump again.
I went to Tom to the office. I had not seen him all morning. On his desk is piled folders and documents, but no trace of him.
"Tom is the week sick." Jasmin came to me, getting some documents. A stretch in the stomach began to spread.
"What has he got?" I asked.
"I do not know. Something with the family, I think. "Oh no! His grandpa!
"And he said nothing?" Bored to me.
"You have not I talked to him. He probably just called Karin and called in sick. "For Karen, I would get out a word. The assistant to Mr. P could be talkative like a washerwoman, but sometimes she was just beastly and pretended as if protecting the company and police would have all the information before the other employees.
Jasmine looked at me quizzically. "You know what's going on? He was recently also not so well on it. "
" No, not that exactly, "I tried to distract. "Who knows."
Should I call him? But what if his grandfather was really bad, then I might just upset.
I decided to call in the evening. So he would certainly no longer in the hospital. I could call and ask too Bee. Although we had had so far not a lot to do with each other, but it was actually very nice and by chance I had her phone number. We had been agreed at a weekend canoeing, and Tom Bee had somehow tangled and not the meeting place. Then he called me from her phone.
If I did not reach him tonight, that would be a way to figure out how bad the situation was. Around noon, I sat

down with jasmine and we went through the events of last week. There was nothing significant happened, no drama, no great successes. Therefore, we did not take long and I was quickly back in my office alone. The good mood and the rest of the holiday had yielded to an uneasy feeling. I was worried to Tom. The whole situation around his grandfather took him a lot. Actually it would be to wish the old man that he would soon fall asleep peacefully and would suffer no pain. That he would not see how it is washed and cared for by strangers. That he could walk with dignity.
I sighed and went back to work. In the afternoon I called Maja, to tell me that we had not received further commitments for the reading month. I was happy with her and told her about Tom.
"Oh, that does not sound good. But maybe he wants to support only his mother or something. "Maja was right. Maybe I painted me from even exaggerated nightmare scenarios. Maybe Work and family were a bit much right now and he needed time to recharge.

rang about nine clock my phone. Tom. I had tried earlier in the evening to reach him, but his phone was switched off. I had not yet called Bee, which seemed to me to be dramatic.
"Hi Tom! How are you? I've heard you're sick. "
" Sady ... "His voice sounded tired, weak. "It goes like this."
I did not know if I should dig deeper.
"My grandpa. He died Friday. "I swallowed. So there. How to respond appropriately now? I knew exactly how grief felt like the stages we went through. And yet I did not know what to say. Why do I call? I should go there! My stomach tightened.
"Oh Tom! I'm so sorry. "He was breathing heavily and swallowed. He tried to keep his composure.
"It's better this way for him," he said, and cleared his throat.
"And yet it's bad." Was a pause.
"Can I help somehow? Should I give in to the Agency decision? "
" That would be good. "
" Good. Do not worry about the job. We'll get everything. Do you care about your family. This is important now. "
" Hmm. "I could his pain almost feel it. And yet I could not help him.
"Tom ..."
"Hmm?"
"You know, you can always call if there is something."
"Yes."
break.
"Well, um, then ..." I sighed.
"The funeral is on Thursday." Tom's voice was rough, as if he had not been used.
"Okay." Sady man, say something!
break.
"have to start over now."
"Right."
"Goodbye." Tom hung up.
I put the phone next to me and rolled me up on the couch. Although it is outside had around 20 degrees, I was cold.

Chapter 14 Chapter 13 Chapter 12

Sunday evening and I traveled Maja on Sylt. Our hotel was what it promised. The thatched houses were beautiful and inviting. At the reception we were greeted with a glass of champagne before they led us to the roof. Our room was decorated in a warm cream color. The atmosphere was simple but stylish and elegant. Fresh fruit on a small table was ready and the beds were a dream of white, soft pillows. We felt like two princesses.
After we unpacked our bags, we went on a tour of the building. There was a nice spa, no wishes unfulfilled, an elegant dining room and two in-house restaurants. Maja and I indulged in a delicious dinner, met again in a few relaxing days and let the evening end with a beach walk.

The next morning we were awakened by rays of sun shone through the curtains. I had slept soundly, as I rarely did in a strange bed. A glance at the clock revealed that it was shortly after 10 clock. Fortunately, there was breakfast to 12 clock so that we could take it more calmly, after all.
was followed by three or four sunny days. We had rented bicycles and explored the Island were sporting manner, with a heavy browsing on the beach chair, threw us into the cold waters of the North Sea and klönten extensively.
On the last day we wanted to be lazy and had it made us comfortable in a beach chair.
"Oh, why does such a great holiday always so quick to be over?" Maja, was in her turquoise bikini and stretched out beside me to meet her face to the sun. "I could stay here forever."
"That would be great. But unfortunately I can not afford the day longer. "
Maja laughed. "Spoilsport"
I blinked at her. "But you're right. A week is too short. But fortunately we still have the weekend in Hamburg and do not have to immediately return to their daily lives back. "
" Yeah right, that. Although I miss my little shop a bit. "
" I believe you like. At present however, the agency I could do without thanks. "
" Hmm. That bad? "
I thought. "No, not really. But nice is not it either. It simply does not work around right now. "
Now Maja blinked at me, too.
"But let's not talk about it now. We're on holiday, fantastic weather and problems and have dark thoughts island ban. "
Maja sat up, reached into her pocket and pulled out a box with Grapes out. Out of a cooler - yes, we were prepared for first-class - they brought a bottle of champagne and opened it with a "pop".
"On our vacation!" We clinked plastic champagne glasses and nibbled fruit then we fell back into the beach chair and let us enjoy the sun. If we had been cats, one would have heard us purring loudly, so pleased we were.

Before we had the next day back to Hamburg, we wanted to end the holiday week in the evening with a great meal. We had met two days ago on the beach Paula and Jutta. Mother and daughter also came from Hamburg and allowed themselves once in a few days alone. They had recommended us a small restaurant on the beach where it was delicious grilled fish. We had reserved a table and the two arranged to meet us later at a nightcap there.
"Am I tired! And it was so delicious! "
" Certainly. But I could not eat a bite more. "
" dessert, we must move well. "
" Yes please. "
" What time is it anyway? "
" Shortly after nine. Paula and Jutta had announced nine-thirty. This fits quite well. "
" Until then I can breathe normally again. "We had to laugh
. Although we fish had eaten with vegetables, we were so tired that we could barely move.
"Let's order an espresso, which is now just right."
We chatted about this and that, as Paula and Jutta came to our table.
"Well you two," said Jutta, laughing, "you look as if it had tasted."
"Hello you two! It was fantastic. Thanks for the tip! "
The two sat down with us.
"How was your day? You've gotten good sun, eh? "The two had red cheeks and noses and golden streaks in her dark blond hair.
"We were lazy and have the whole day at the beach spent. And you? "
" we. "We laughed.
"Perfect. What did you like? Shall we order a bottle of wine or cocktails dear? "
" Oh, I feel like a cocktail, "I said. "Something fruity."
"Yes, me too."
"Well, then order and let." Jutta beckoned to the waiter and asked for the card.
Paula Maja and I was like his late twenties and had studied medicine and applied for a Research Associate position in England. Now she waited impatiently for an answer. Jutta, mid-fifties, worked as a technical designer at an architectural firm and one you noted that in her breast two hearts beat. On the one hand, she hoped her daughter to the place in a prestigious hospital, on the other hand, wanted the mom can not move into her daughter into the world.
Our cocktails were served and we toasted to a nice evening.
"Cheers girls! Nice that we met, "enthused Jutta.
"Cheers! And the times we repeat soon in Hamburg. "
" Absolutely. Fortunately, Sylt is a distant suburb of Hamburg and you learn a lot here to know neighbors. "

The evening ended late and moist-happy. About three clock in the morning we said goodbye to the other two and started with a Annual tipsy towards the hotel on.
enjoyed The next morning a hearty breakfast and headed back recovered well in bright sunshine to Hamburg.

I arrived late from the agency and only wanted peace and quiet. The day had been very tiring. I knew that our team had nothing to reproach. However, I put the whistle to the boss. I looked forward to a hot bath, a glass of wine and then just off to bed yet. I had to survive only two days, then I had a week off.
I was worried because of Tom. If he were to fail now, my vacation would be in danger. In his present mood the boss was trusted to giving us the choice set and could only take a vacation. I very much hope that it would not happen.
I let hot water run into the tub, add bath additive gave a shot and uncorked a bottle of rosé. Some days you would have to be deleted from the calendar.

The next morning I drove an hour earlier to the office. I did not know if Tom was back, and his work also had to be done, at least the bare minimum. As our team was not very big and I already the last weeks had stepped from time to time with him, it was natural that I would keep an eye on. But I had my work "holiday fine" and make for Jasmin prepare to surrender.
When I arrived at the agency, Tom was already there. Fortunately! I had no desire to give up my vacation, even if compared to the loss of a loved one was not that bad.
"I have a team meeting for 10 clock called -. Without Mr. P. We should try to make the best of the situation, and can simultaneously discuss the holiday passing" Tom was in my office door while I hung my jacket on the hanger and started up my computer.
"This is a good idea. Who knows what there is Sun With our luck, we lose the next project or the author proposes a less as expected. "
" Speak of the devil on the wall! "
" How are you? You look better. How's your grandpa? "
Tom sighed. "It was a dizzy spell. He is under the circumstances. Let's talk another time about it, yes? "
" Okay. "I looked at him searchingly, but his expression was not apparent whether the situation only played down or whether he was just too tired just to talk about it.
"Tom, I have agreed with jasmine, that makes my representation of that time. Then there would be no problem if you spontaneously, well ...'d have gone. "
" Hmm. "
We both thought the fact that the next time it could be the last time he is summoned to his grandfather. I wanted to respond to it Bee. Ask him what she said to the whole situation. But I do not trust him. Last time it was not received so well. And actually it was me anything.
"Okay, we'll see you later. We could also make lunch together? 're Not there next week. "
" Very much. Until later then! "

The day passed quietly. None of us had breakthrough ideas how we could solve the tricky situation, so we decided to just how far to go ahead and hoped that the next Project was successful.

On Friday I gave my stuff and Jasmine said goodbye to Tom.
"Keep your chin up!"
"Yes, yes. It is already. Enjoy your vacation and you ever really let the wind blow you around the ears. Then you can relax beautiful here to return to chaos. "He grinned at me wrong.
"I'll just grab there, a rich snob and I am only a homemaker. You'll see what you have it! ".
We had to both laugh.
! "Good luck"
